About Me Original
Me
Hello! I am Radhika, a software engineer by profession and an artist by passion (clich'ed but true). I graduated as a Computer Science Engineer from India in 2009. Shortly after, I completed my Master of Science in Information Systems from Singapore in 2010. Early in my career, I worked as a researcher at my alma mater and have had the opportunity to co-author multiple research papers published in international science journals. Later, I moved to the role of a software engineer and had been working until early 2022. I then decided to take career break wanting to focus my time and energy on self care, family and reflect upon my long time creative aspirations. I am now a full-time artist. Personally, I love living in the moment, a simple life and a piping hot Chai!
My Family
I live with my very supportive loving husband and my inquisitive 9 year old in California, USA. As a family, we thoroughly enjoy traveling, great food and weekend movie nights. Moreover, my kid being a budding artist himself, is my most favorite art companion. Together, we love discussing anything and everything around art!
My Art and Inspiration
Art has always been a great source of relaxation and creative exploration for me. Growing up, I used to fancy being an artist someday, spreading the myriad shades of joyous colors (hence the name).
So here I am today, fulfilling the wishes of my younger self. We all have one life after all!
Flowers and nature inspire me and I strive to capture their simplicity and elegance. I work with watercolors and like to keep my compositions simple, loose and delightful with a touch of subtle vibrance that adds ample warmth and positive vibes to your most favorite space. Each artwork that I accomplish gives me immense pleasure and creative satisfaction. Hope this reflects in my artwork and resonates with you!
My Philanthropic Interests
I believe kindness is contageous and every small act of kindness will go a long way in preserving good will in our society. I therefore wish to pay it forward in whichever little way I can.
I have volunteered as a student mentor with an educational NGO which focuses on providing academic support to underprivileged high school students.
I also enjoy sending little postcards of my artwork to a cancer hospice every once in a while, which the visiting families use as notes for their loved ones. When I hear from the hospice on how much they loved them, it is my true happiness. In a way, I feel so much closer to my dad who I lost to cancer.
And I'd be more than happy to collaborate with such organizations where I can contribute some hope and cheer through my artwork. Simply reach me at myriad.shades.art@gmail.com.
